BIO: Gregory Neita - AKA - DJ PEGGO

My love for music started at the tender age of 4 years old. My father, the late Hartley Neita, kept midnight parties which started at one second after midnight on Easter Monday and Independence mornings (always a Monday, back then) showing respect for Sunday as a day of worship. These parties would end in the early morning sunrise with a full Jamaican breakfast. There were no DJ's; just his home sound system and his fantastic collection of Long Playing Records.

Fast forward a couple of years. I remember being at the home of our family friends, Helene and Olive Senior on Hope Road and taking over the turntable, playing 45's for them and being applauded for the 'chunes' that I was dropping. The only album I distinctly remember is the Beetles', Abbey Road. I was 6 years old at the time.

Music was always playing in our home; sunrise to sunset, and way into the night. On waking, the first thing that Daddy turned on, after his coffee percolator, was his music.we would wake to the cooing and strains of his selections - Nina Simone, Roberta Flack, Desmond Decker and the Aces, Nancy Wilson would be the first sounds of our mornings. Frank Sinatra was reserved for Sundays. Jazz was his favorite. Classical music Frederic Chopin, Wolfgang Amadeus, Mozart, just to name a few, were included in the line-up.

And yes, the Christmas songs were a treat.

My older brother was also part of a sound system that was very popular. The equipment was stored at our home and his friends would hang and play music.

We later moved to the community of Aylsham. Yes, Aylsham was where it really started for me and my music. I first met Clue. We had just moved to Aylsham and unbeknown to our family, our home was a short-cut to what was called the "Bottom Park". Clue was on his merry way there when he and our German Shepherd met at the side of our house. Needless to say, I had to come to his rescue but all was well. She was only making sure that he could neither go nor come.

The next day, I met Al. DJ Alby. As a true Aylshamite, he came by and introduced himself. He and Ratty came, I was playing some chunes in our Music Room and they invited me to their house and gave me a tour of the community. At some point, the Mighty Enforcers Disco came into the conversation and yes, I was inducted into the group.

The Mighty Enforcers Disco grew a small community sound system that played for the birthday parties around Aylsham to become a disco that was commissioned to play for the likes of Jamaica Public Service Company's, Christmas parties at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel and their sports center, Kiwanis Club of North St. Andrew, many high school day fetes and barbeques, Sweet 16 parties and last, but not the least, Dance Town Dance, Dance in the country. One in particular lasted for almost three (3) days. Friday afternoon to Sunday!

So, in a nutshell, this has been my journey in the sound system DJ business which has now taken this group of BROTHERS to Mighty Enforcers Radio. A brothership that has lasted for over Thirty Five (35) years and still going strong.

Mighty Enforcers Radio is our new journey in the music business that was founded on a love for playing for others and not for ourselves. I thank the other players of music for coming onboard with the experiences they bring to the platform. We look forward to fantastic synergies as we continue to play to please.

Peace and Love!
